Tours Jaan is Doing
Best of Tallinn Tour: Highlights & Hidden Gems
Coming with a Cruise or short in time? See the Old Town and other main sights in just five hours.
Jaan is a history student from Tartu. He claims is the coolest town in the world, we do not disagree. His love of history is something that still impresses us every day in the Traveller group.
Before becoming a tour guide Jaan worked in a large international sports data and betting company spending eight hours a day behind a computer screen watching numbers. After breaking free from the chains of a 9-to-5 job, he loves spending time in the beautiful Estonian nature with travellers.
As an avid football fan Jaan dreams of one day seeing Estonia play at the World Cup, this - much like teleportation - is currently impossible in this universe, so he has agreed settle for the European Championship. He also is an extremely average fantasy football player.
On his tours, get ready for some insight and insider information about Estonian life, culture and politics throughout different eras.

We booked this tour very much at the last minute, and we were so glad we did! There was only one other person on the tour, so it definitely didn't feel like too large a group. Jaan was absolutely lovely, and really knowledgeable – as well as being really patient in answering all of our questions. The highlights of the day for me were walking across the Viru bog, which was beautiful, and visiting the coast. Thank you so much for a wonderful tour!
Travelling from Riga to Tallinn, we wanted to take in as much of the country side as we could. Alternative travel methods such as direct bus or plane didn’t really appeal as you missed out on seeing the country first hand. This tour was great! 12 hours travel but it took us to off the beaten track sights. We visited castles and towns; forests and bobsled tracks; all with the amazing help and knowledge of our tour guide. Great experience and highly recommended
Very nice tour with interesting stops and many facts about the history of Estonia and Latvia.
My partner and I did several Traveller tours. I love a chance to escape outdoors and this was the tour I was most looking forward to! Although you could certainly visit the Lahemaa National Park on your own if you hired a car, the tour has been designed to take you to all the best bits. I am glad we decided not to do it ourselves, as the best part of the tour was our tour guide. Jaan and the guides we had are passionate about history. Rather than rattle off facts you will never remember, they use humour or personal stories to help you understand the history of their country. We just couldn't possibly appreciate the places we were visiting without their knowledge of history and the local area. Riding the Estonian swing, wandering through the bog and eating smoked salmon in a traditional fishing village are memories I will keep forever. Thank you.
Professional and good staff, we received many and interesting information all over the way. Nice views
Jaan created a great experience. At first we did not know what to expect. But after a few minutes we laughed and had fun already in the early morning. Jaan made us enthusiastic about both the Latvian as well as the Estonion history and culture. Jaan served us well and was flexible in accepting our requests. Beer, history and culture: wow!
